We are always doing the best we can with the options available.
Hello,
I want to start with the simple reminder that we are all doing the best we can. Wherever we are at, we made it here and we need to stop and give ourselves the recognition we deserve for how we got to today. Of course we can always do things better, but whether it’s a difficult moment, or just the routine of the day to day, we are doing the best we can with the options available to us.
I believe that’s why it’s so valuable to explore options. For many people, options are everything and we see that in movement. Of course we are also all very different in our desire for options.
Sometimes we need to ask ourselves the questions, “do we even want something to change?” “Do I truly need to do/be better?” It’s hard to be honest with ourselves on this one but it’s okay to say no. Sometimes we need to explore avoiding the options we know aren’t serving us so we can focus on the options that hold better promise. That’s going to really change the desire to explore options and without that desire and focus the payoff isn’t going to be where our expectations may lie. If the answer is yes then we need those new options discovered, explored, and then most importantly we need those options integrated and accessible to us, especially when we need them most.
In movement sessions our focus is on exploring options, and then challenging those options so they can become accessible to us when necessary. I think one of the biggest misses in the fitness and movement industry today is the focus on the need for strength versus the focus on the need for good accessible options. I have witnessed over the years with myself and countless individuals where frustration sets in we say, “I’m not strong enough.” but really there was something else missing from the puzzle and it wasn’t strength.
You are doing your best and when you are ready to do better look to your options. We are either in need of exploring new options, or we are narrowing down our options so we can focus on the ones that serve us the best. It all goes back to finding balance and our own unique recipe that works for our unique brain.
